Co organized Bio Gujarat Event which saw big participation from various states, GOI and many corporate. Participated in National Science Congress and Vibrant Gujarat event, representing Biotechnology sector of the state, Biotechnology investment facilitation, and bringing to the forum and light, the increasing investments by the BT industries in the state, as reflected by the expansion plans declared by seven Such industries, who also signed MOU on the occasion of Global Investor summit, at Vibrant Gujarat Event, 2005,

POLICY INITIATIVES:
Preparation of Draft Incentive Biotechnology policy, which is highly competitive and has incorporated all the important features needed for BT industries, submitted to the State Government for consideration and approval.
PROMOTING BT ENTREPRENEURSHIP:
Establishment of Gujarat Biotech venture fund of Rs. 50 crores, with initial corpus of Rs.10 crore as state govt. share and remaining through other financial institutions agencies, corporate etc.
Rs. 5 crore are to be provided in 2004 05 and Rs 5 crore in 2005 06,

The amount of Rs 2 crore has been given as loan amount to Gujarat Venture Finance Limited Financial incentive for BT Industries & entrepreneurs Prepared as part of incentive package

BIOTECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT (BT PARK):
Revalidation of Central Grant, of Rs 1.5 crore,
Granted under Additional assistance Scheme, Planning Commission, GOI, for development of Gujarat biotechnology Park
Appointment of Ernst and Young, as Consultants for selection of Private partner for BT Park under, Private Public partnership,

The issue has been pursued and being coordinated with GIDC, and other stakeholders. Since Aug 2004, several meetings have been conducted to sort out the various issues, critical for the Biotech Park RFQ and RFP document under preparation

Bidding for Bio IT Park tinder STPI scheme: GSBTM has made its bid, jointly with Creative Infocity, for Country's first BIO IT Park in India.

SUPPORTING RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT IN BIOTECHNOLOGY

Undertaken the work of framing of Guidelines, mechanism and Performa's for financial assistance for research and development projects and establishment of centre of excellence in Biotechnology Financial Support, provided for establishment of Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology.
Centre of Excellence in Marine Biotechnology, at CMCRI, Bhavnagar Microarray facilities for Microbial Genomics, at MSU Vadodra, Sanctioning of Major and Minor Research and Development projects

Total cost of Rs. 452.58 lacs
Grant of Rs. 84.70 lacs has also been released in the year 2004-05

HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT:
Research fellowship support to 41 JRFs / SRFs / RAs, under GSBTM, GOG, supported Research and Projects Seminars/ workshop were supported in year 2004 2005 Seminar on New Drug delivery system PERD Centre, Ahmedabad Workshop and Seminar on Molecular Biology by Department of Biochemistry, MS University of Baroda Chemzole 2005 organized by Department of Chemical Engineering, NIRMA University, Ahmedabad

FACILITATING AND NETWORKING:
Preparation of Compendium,
The, product, first ever by any state, was released By H'ble Chief Minister of Gujarat state at the occasion of Bio Gujarat event. Distributed to industries, research Institutions and organizations involved with BT, within state and outside state,

Preparation of Analytical report,

As a facilitating mechanism for present and future investor and collaborators, both at state, regional, National and International level, an Analytical Report, was prepared and got released by Secretary, DBT, GO[ at Bio Asia event,

Indo Canadian Convention,

To facilitate industrial collaboration and business partnership, a workshop was organized through IndoCanadian collaboration. The workshop resulted in business partnership between a US based company, Synegics and big CRO group Synchron

To facilitate the collaboration of institutes having expertise in Bioinformatics, a brainstorming session was kept, involving C DAC, Pune, Pharmaceutical companies, academia etc.
