Future Planning

The state aims to

• To make Gujarat a preferred and globally competitive destination for development of BT products, processes & services;
• To create a conducive environment for Biotechnology growth and development;
• To Encourage Biotechnology business for wealth creation and increase the BT sector’s contribution to state’s economy by five fold;
• To leverage the inherent Pharma – Agri and Marine resource strength of Gujarat through use of Biotechnology.

The state has adopted the strategy of

• Facilitating development of competitive infrastructure base for growth and improvement of Biotechnology products and processes, in the form of BT clusters, Biotech zones, Biotechnology parks and sector specific facilities.
• Creating a pool of highly skilled manpower in Biotechnology, by establishing dedicated institutions, skill development programs and value addition measures.
• Facilitate in Industries for Promoting research and innovation in Biotechnology.
• Facilitate entrepreneurship in BT by providing support in technology transfer, business guidance and capacity building support.
• Facilitate and support networking and stakeholder linkages.

With long term perspective, the state has identified Human resource development, promotion of Biotechnology research and innovation, entrepreneurship development and biotechnology business, information dissemination and awareness development, as priority areas.

The state has already initiated some concrete actions.
